About Local Nature Reserves

This page was modified
  November 2005

This rectangular field is about 10 acres in size and was formerly part of the College Farm and used for growing Brassicas. The field is now part of the Nature Reserve and managed as a wildflower and grass meadow.
The perimetre is bordered by scrub understory and mature trees which are Beech, Ash, Lime, Sycamore and Elm. The lower shrub and herbaceous layer is mainly Privet, Dogwood and Bramble.
Ash seedlings are tending to invade the grassland.
