This rectangular field is about 10 acres in size and was formerly part of the College Farm and used for growing Brassicas. The field is now part of the Nature Reserve and managed as a wildflower and grass meadow. The perimetre is bordered by scrub understory and mature trees which are Beech, Ash, Lime, Sycamore and Elm. The lower shrub and herbaceous layer is mainly Privet, Dogwood and Bramble. Ash seedlings are tending to invade the grassland. |

The grass species are dominated
by False-oat Grass (Arrhenatherum elatus), and Cock's-foot (Dactylis
glomerata).Cow Parsley and Wild Parsnip grow throughout the
field. I have found patches where Pyramid Orchids (Anacampis pyramidalis) and Broomrape (Orobanche minor) can be found |
