A few trees remain of the 'clump' of Beech
that were planted by the Lloyd family of Lancing Manor.
It is said they were inspired by the trees of Cissbury Ring on a
hilltop north of Worthing.
A large proprtion of the woodland is now Common Ash (Fraxinus excelsior)
