speckled wood
According to 'The Scientific Names of British Lepidoptera' by A. Maitland Emmett, Parage was coined by Hubner in 1819 from the Greek 'Para' meaning 'close to' and 'Arge' from 'White' - apparently from the relationship with the Marbled White.
Aegeria was named after Egeria, one of the Camenae, prophetic
Nymphs resident in ancient Italy.
